22 year-old Dan Livingston, who acquired entry into the $5,200 tournament through one of a series of draws inside the Horseshoe Casino Poker Room in Hammond, Indiana, said that he always wanted to win a gold bracelet but a gold ring will be enough for now.
Livingston, who recently quit from his job working in an auto-detailing shop, outwitted a field of 248 poker players to win the $291,749 1st place cash prize and was very happy following his win. Livingston said that he is proud for winning nearly $300,000 for just forty hours of work.
Prior to winning the World Series of Poker Circuit championship event, the Oak Forest, Illinois native usually played $100 buy-in poker tournaments at the Horseshoe Casino and his biggest cash-in to date was a $4,000 score online. He is now considering taking up the game as a serious career.

Livingston said that winning the tournament was a serious boost to his confidence and he wants to see how far he can go in the poker circuit. Livingston defeated Indian Head Park, Illinois resident Tom Floros in the heads-up showdown.
Floros also won his slot through the same random giveaway draw at the Horseshoe Casino. Floros turned his freeroll into $180,287. This is just the 2nd year the World Series of Poker Circuit has come to Hammond.
Player participation at the championship event increased by fifty-four percent over 2008, when World Series of Poker bracelet winner Steve Billirakis outwitted a field of 164 players to take home the title.
Billirakis did not participate in the tournament this year. Including side poker events, overall attendance at the Horseshoe casino was up by twelve percent over last year and the prize money increased by twenty percent.
The next stop on the World Series of Poker circuit is at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Side events have already started and the Championship begins on October 31st, 2009.
